Spring is here and so is the EGDD

So Spring is here. Before long most of us will be dealing with allergies,
I thought Madi looked like she was about to sneeze in this picture.

Madi and I thought we'd share some interesting facts about sneezing....ahhh we hear a collective sigh coming from blog land..but please bear with us.

Technically speaking sneezing is called 'sternutation." People don't sneeze in their sleep because the nerves that control sneezing are also at rest. Most people sneeze through their mouth: Animals sneeze through their nose. One-third of people have a medical condition known as ACHOO (autosomal domnant compelling helio-ophthalmic outburst) syndrome, a genetic condition wherein sunlight stimulates the optic nerves, sending the sensory impuluses to the trigeminal nerve in the nose, which causes a tickle, resulting in a sneeze.
Some people sneeze while plucking their eyebrows since thiscauses the nerves in the face to fire and affect the nasal nerve.

And Finally,

Your heart does not stop when you sneeze, but a change in the presure in your chest changes your blood flow which may change the rhythm of your heart.
Probably the most heard of response after a sneeze is "Gesundheit"

After a sneeze Zulus say, "I am now blessed."

Greeks and Romans say, "Banish the Omen."

Hindus say, "Live" , with a response of " With you."

Madi and I say

Be gone with you, evil green dust of the devil, EGDD, aka pollen!!!
NC's worst pollen is from the native Pine tree and it is more green than yellow.

Mom and I found all these interesting nasal facts in
'The Essential Book of Useless Information", by Don Voorhees

Madi presents Friday Flashback w/ Milky-Way

Rub a tub tub this was Milky-Way (MW) in the tub....MW had a perfectly symmetrical face.
MW was not at all afraid of water. He would always be waiting to jump in the tub after his people had their showers. To the best of my knowledge Madi, 'I don't let my feet get wet', Diva cat has never been anywhere close to hopping in the shower. The only way she likes water is from her fountain and especially without soapsuds. As you might remember from a previous post,
she does like to sit in the bathroom while her Dad takes his shower.

What Madi likes the most about warmer weather

Oh happy days...my life is complete...
the weather is nice and Mom opened the window,
moved my perch to just the right place and......

I can sit here all day watching and listening to the
sounds of Spring. The birds are singing, the trees have
tiny buds on them....there are little critters moving about
just below the window....

....and when I'm very, very still and crouch very low I can watch them scurry by without a clue that a great game hunter is lurking just above them...but today this hunter is too happy to
give them a second thought.

Note from M&M: This is a short response to several of the comments yesterday mentioning all our puppy friends. The first blog we ever read or visited was Dog Daze. In fact, we had no clue there were blogs about dogs or cats until we met Ms. K, Buddy, Sassy and Zack at Dog Daze. Once on Dog Daze, we became intrigued. After several months of visiting Dog Daze, we started talking to Ms. K about starting a blog. Ms. K was our inspiration, cheer leader and teacher as we ventured into blogland. Ms. K posted a link to our new Blog on her blog on June 25, 2009. We met lots of puppies almost immediately. We thank all of the puppies and their humans for taking a Diva Cat and her 'untechie' mom into their K9 family. Finally one day Mom did a search for kitty blogs and lo and behold there were just a many kitty blogs as puppy blogs. Now we have to best friends in both worlds. We're a day early with the celebration; however since we had so many comments about our puppy friends we thought we celebrate a day early.
Thank you Ms K for all you guidance once a great teacher always a great teacher!!!

Madi: Mom says I'm being mouthy....

Since I've turned 8,
and had all of the birthday attention, cards, gifts and special treats from my friends
...Mom has accused me of being a little mouthy.
Quite frankly I have no clue what she is talking about....but I keep
hearing mumblings about if I don't straighten up and fly right
that she is going to call the 'authorities'.
I politely said, "excuse me Mom but I don't know how to fly".
She said see that is what I'm talking about you are mouthy....

Well I guess maybe I better start walking the straight and narrow because look who
was sitting outside our house on Saturday......
Raleigh's Finest.....

Woe be unto me she must be serious. I wonder if he has 2 sets of handcuffs for
kitties or will he handcuff my front paws and make me walk down the hill on my hind legs?

Note from Mom: SHHHHH!!! Don't tell Madi but I did not call the police on her 'YET'.
Thankfully Raleigh's Finest were set up here to catch the speed demons whipping through the
neighborhood.

Sunday Steeple

St. John Baptist Church
Oberlin Road, Raleigh NC
I could not find much about this church online. This is not actually the church steeple. It stands side of the church;however, I found it very interesting structurally. Down the right side of the brick tower you see a white pole. Between the brick tower and the pole there are several bells that are attached to the tower and the pole. I believe this is a Columbarium

Note: I recently discovered a very interesting blog The Door Hunter.
This blogger takes gorgeous pictures of all the doors in and around Prague, Czech Republic.
At first glance you see beautifully designed doors; however, the descriptions of all the doors is truly amazing. After reading the descriptions, look at the picture again. You'll find you missed many beautiful features on the door. The Door Hunter is also Mom to the kitties
Lautrec and Tiny.
